Cavendish Overpass

  Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Tunnel

Stripping of the pillars of the Highway 40 Cavendish overpass (Montreal, Quebec)

Work to be performed: stripping of the overpass pillars on three sides.

Period: mid-June to early July 2003

Challenges and special requirements:

  • The work had to be completed rapidly

  • The existing reinforcements could not be affected

  • Specific ministère des Transport du Québec standards regarding the transmission of vibrations to the existing structure had to be met

  • Stripping depth had to be very precise.
