The autonomous tilting platform designed by Gercom has radically changed the
methods and operational logistics of work performed on
dam discharge carriers
and infrastructures involving major differences in gradient
where the slope of work areas varies between 0° et 90°.
In particular, the autonomous tilting platform makes it possible to:
- Eliminate the necessity to use scaffolds
- Minimize the time required to perform the work
- Gain easier access to hard-to-reach and dangerous areas
- Provide greater worker safety
- Reduce the size of work teams
- Use minimum-capacity equipment
- Free dam-head circulation areas.
It also provides the following advantages:
- A crane is needed only to install and dismantle the platform (if the platform cannot be set up at the bottom of the dam)
- Various work equipment can be rigged to the platform
- The drilling can be performed with specialized equipment
- The work area can be accessed easily.
Moreover, the work teams are able to perform all operations using a control box.
In addition to its performance features, the platform is easy to move on and
outside the worksite. In spite of its weight (12,000 lbs.), it only requires a
mechanical crane to lift and place it on a truck bed once it has been folded in
on itself! In less than 15 minutes, the platform can be on its way to another
worksite.
This platform, whether pneumatic or hydraulic, may be used as a work or a
drilling platform.
